Confession

Okay, Okay... I have to confess: I have been lazy lately. You would think because we are empty nesters that we have more time for the more important things in life, but the truth is, there are plenty of other stuffs that can fill up the empty slot left over for not having to do the more essential things in life. I went to Sister Taggart's New Testament class today and got a wake up call; we are studying in Luke chapter 10 & 11 where Christ is sending out his Twelveth and the Seventies (which by the way is only recorded in Luke). There were 9 things commanded by the Savior and they can be found from Luke 10:1-16. In verse 4, it reads ... "and salute no man by the way": this is interpreted to be "stay focus, do the essential and don't waste time in paying attention to things that are not important". So no more execuses that I am too busy this week because of seminary (this is spring break, so no seminary) that I don't have time to write. Thus this is my confession because my only execuse is that I am LAZY! Something we have done the last few weeks: Alice in Wonderland Junior

One of the family in the ward, the Ekins, have their kids in their elementary school play sponsored by the PTA. Emily, the eldest, has a major part of being the Daisy. She even brought her sister, Katie (Bug) with her on stage. Can you see the little lady bug on her waist? Maddie and little Ellie (even though she is only 3) sing and dance as the Flower Buds. It was a fun play and the girls did a wonderful job in acting their parts. Most of all Ted and I have a great time.

Food, Food, Food:

I have continued to exercises almost 6 days a week with my friend, but I have to say I have not losen a pound. We have been watching the food network when we are exercising so I have come across a lot of good recipes. May be the reason why I have not lose weigh is because I have been cooking, experimenting with different food. I have taken some pictures but I don't know how to get it off of my phone. Any suggestion?

Baby on the way:

Justin and Jessica announced in the middle of March that they are expecting. The due date is October 2. We are so excited for them. I know they are ready for a little baby in their lifes and so are we! For detail, please visit their blog at fanofyan@blogspot.com

Exercises!!

Well, since January, Ted and I have been faithfully exercising... Ted got up at 4:15 a.m. every morning and did a 2-4 miles fat burning walking workout and I started working out at one of my co-worker's condo exercising room. And the disappointing result is that we have not lost a pound!

Ted is trying to get up his motivation again because it is hard to keep going when there is nothing to show for. As for me, I have to say I am firming up a little bit in my arms. I am determined to keep going until I see some result.

I have to say it used to be hard to exercise but now that there are no kids at home and no parents to take care of, I have more free time to do something for myself.

Wow, it is mid February already!

I can hardly believe that half of February is gone. As of yesterday, we could even file 2010's tax return, where have all the time gone!

Just a quick recap of the last few months.

December, 2010

We were very lucky and blessed to have all our children home this year. We took a short trip up to Canada and visited Jessica's brother and sister-in-law's family and their new baby boy. We enjoyed wonderful meals - huge sushi and nice dim sum in Richmond. Afterward, we head home. Ada left on New Years Eve so she could be back to Provo to spend the New Year with her friends. Justin and Jessica left New Year day and Alicia and Brenda followed a couple day later. Ted and I had gotton used to just being two of us at home that there was hardly anything in the frige. The kids were worried that we are going to starve them because there were nothing in the house to eat. Well, as it turned out, we have way too much food as usual. We missed our children alot afterward. Now, we have to get back to just the two of us again!

My niece, Lisa Heckathon, gave birth to a healthy baby girl whom they called Augustina, in memory of my brother Austin. She is such a cute baby!

January, 2011

I can't believe it has been a year since mother passed away. David and Jennifer came down from Tri-cities and together we visited the grave site on the 20th. It seems only yesterday both Mom and Dad were with us. Now they have both departed. I have to say now and then something will trigger in my mind of thing Dad said and Mom did that makes me missed them. I know they are still very closed to my heart and I look forward to seeing them again someday.

Ted is working less overtime lately so it was nice to have him home more. However, he is working some second shifts so on days that he does, I won't see him until the morning because I now have to be in bed early so that I can be up at 5 in the morning.

Seminary is going well for me. I love studying the Doctrine & Covenants. It re-affirms to me over and over that the gospel is true and that Joseph Smith was the living prophet whom God chose in this last dispensation to restore his church on the earth. I know God lives and He loves us. I am so thankful for this privilege to be able to study, learn and teach (be taught)!

Sorry this is such boring blog... no picture yet... but I will update as I find my camera...

Fried Banana anyone?

A few months ago when Ada came home from Hawaii, she told us about some fried banana her friend had taught her how to make them. She looked all around Kent, but couldn't find the right kind of banana. She ended using regular banana. It tasted okay but she said it wasn't as good as the one she had in Hawaii. I was talking with one of my friend, Aida, when I was treating her back pain. Then she told me that fried banana is from Philipine and she promised to show me how to make them when she got better. Finally, yesterday, she showed up to her appointment, with banana, lupia wrapper and brown suger in hand. She make me some fried banana! I have to say they do tasted much better than regular banana. She got the banana from Ranch 99 supermarket... they are so good and easy to make. Thank you, Aida!

The Joy of cooking

We spent last weekend in Utah attending general conference. Ted and I were able to tickets to go to the Saturday morning session and tickets for all 5 of us to the Sunday morning one.
After the Saturday morning session, we drove to Odgen to visit some friends that we had not visited for a while (Carmen and Ken Choi). Carmen has been cooking up a storm with receipes from this website on facebook. She showed me how to make some of my favorite childhood snacks and of course, Ted got hooked on the website. He spent most of the time on the computer reading up on the different receipes while we were waiting for our flight home. So Tuesday, after I got off work from the hospital, I arrived home with most delicious smells of bake goods... Ted had made "chick tail bun". I was so hungry, I ate one big one all by myself.
So today, I had to make some more. Ted make the bread dough while I had my seminary meeting this morning and I finished by rolling the dough, putting the filling and baking them. Here are the pictures. They are a little bit over cook because my oven is too warm (I turn it down 25 degree less than we was supposed to be already, but I guess I need to turn it down even more). But it tastes just as good.

Family Pictures

This is one of the 104 pictures taken while we were in Milwaukee. I know I am a little bit prejudise but I think I have the cutest family!

Catch Ups; 3 of 3

The last day we were in Hawaii, we visited the Dole Plantation. I love the pineapple in Hawaii; they are sweet to the last bite and there is no acid or sour taste afterward. I couldn't believe how many different types and varities of pineapple there is. One fact we were told is that pineapple are pick when they are ripe, some could be still green on the outside or some yellow. It does not continue to ripe once it is picked. So the key to pick a good pineapple is to pick one that the leaves are firm and smell good and we should eat it as soon as we get it because instead of ripening, it is rottening slowly if we don't each right away.

August 24 to August 29, 2010

Two days after we came home from Hawaii, we unpacked and packed up the van and took Brenda to BYU for her to start freshmen orientation on the 25th. Of course, it was another busy week as we set up Brenda's room and also packed up Ada's stuff so she could move out of her condo and move into a different place at the beginning of the month. For a few days we were camping out at Alicia's place until Brenda moved into the dorm and we left. Ada will be moving to her place September 1st.
